Job Summary

** Preferred location is Bristol **

Responsible for the leading the development and commissioning of New Product Introduction (NPI) manufacturing systems and related ME activities. The CME leads the deployed multi-functional Manufacturing Engineering (ME) team, responsible for the delivery of the NPI activities.  The CME will ensure that the manufacturing system meets stakeholder requirements including; technical compliance; adherence to Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) standards and meeting or exceeding the agreed business case (Quality; Delivery and Cost). The CME is also responsible for additional activities such as Bid definitions, Work transfers, Technology insertion and addressing Quality issues as required by the program.

Job Responsibilities

  • NPI - the CME is responsible for all ME and industrialisation aspects of New Product Introductions this includes but is not limited to: Delivery of a manufacturing system that fulfils all stakeholder requirements including; Safety, Logistics, Quality, Produceability & Business case metrics which includes; Implementation of tooling, Production planning, ZDM design and execution including inherent process capability measurement systems and resolving issues pertaining to vendor schedule and/or quality. Working with the Design Chief Engineers (for Design and Build contracts) to ensure concurrent & coordinated ME & Design engineering activities, supporting internal (LCGR) and external (PDR, CDR) technical reviews as required.
  • Leadership of Projects- Responsible for technical leadership of manufacturing system development and integration for production. 
  • Leadership of Teams - Management and Leadership of deployed manufacturing engineering team; accountable to the Program Manager/Director for delivering Program technical objectives within agreed budget. Lead engineering teams to deliver measurable, metrics driven results in line with Program goals.
  • Quality – Drive a quality mind-set within the deployed engineering team and ensure compliance to agreed Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) standards.
  • Bids – Working closely with the Programme team and Industrial Architects, be responsible for the technical ME content of bid work including Technical risk management, ME work content and NRC budgeting.
  • Technology - Through working with Key technology stakeholders be aware of and assessing opportunities to improve manufacturing systems where appropriate and implement  technologies and their associated risks/opportunities
  • Relationships - Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
