Job Summary

 

Joining the world’s leading tier one aerospace supplier of systems and components, this opening gives you the opportunity to ‘earn while you learn’ combining the role of Business Administration with online study, working towards achieving a nationally accredited Level 3 certification.

 

Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector.

 

As a Business Admin Apprentice, based at our largest manufacturing site in Filton, reporting into the PA to the Site Director, you’ll be providing administration support engaging with different areas of the site; interacting with both internal and external customers.

 

In support of our global initiative in encouraging our employees back into the office more frequently, this role will see you based onsite between the hours of 08:30 until 16:30 Monday to Thursday, with a 12:00 noon finish on a Friday. Within these hours up to 20% of your time will be spent working towards completing your online studies in conjunction with our service provider.

What You'll Be Doing

 

Sitting within our civil business lines, this apprenticeship will provide you with development and training across a wide range of business knowledge, skills and behaviours to include but not limited to:

 

  • Providing diary maintenance via Microsoft outlook, facilitation of customer/visitor bookings, capturing minutes, preparing presentations, organising meetings and workshops, facilitation of conference room bookings, maintaining filing systems, travel booking, stationery replenishment, preparation for management meetings and holiday management.
  • Processing expense claims for the managers, plus other members of the team; maintaining expense records.
  • Providing support with onsite guests and events when required.
  • Adhoc regional travel up to 5% in support of PA requirements.
  • Provide holiday cover/support to the General Manager during the absence of the PA; after successful on boarding ad probation period.
  • React positively and quickly to all tasks even when work is routine, ensuring an appropriate response to all calls and correspondence
  • Work towards becoming office custodian for the team/area working within.

 

You’ll get all the support and guidance you need to help you achieve your apprenticeship, joining a structured 24 month programme working closely with both GKN Aerospace and our service provider. 

 

Once you are enrolled, you will utilise a dynamic combination of learning online, in person and via a series of webinars and 121 workshops. As part of your programme you will have access to an online learning programme and an E-portfolio to track your progression, capture evidence, build your professional portfolio and log your off-the-job learning. To support you with your learning you’ll be assigned a mentor who will work closely with you to ensure your learning and achievement of your apprenticeship qualification.

Job Qualifications

 

In order to be considered for this opportunity you will require the following:

 

  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths, English and at least 2 other subjects.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in an administrative role
