Job Summary

 

Joining the world’s leading tier one aerospace supplier of systems and components, this opening gives you the opportunity to ‘earn while you learn’ combining the role of Business Administration with online study, working towards achieving a nationally accredited Level 3 certification.

 

Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector.

 

As a Business Admin Apprentice, based at our state-of-the-art Global Technology Centre in Bristol, reporting into the EA to the VP of Technology, you’ll be providing efficient and proactive administration support to the Horizon 3 technology team; interacting with both internal and external customers. The Horizon 3 (H3) technology team, has circa 100 staff with 60-70 of these staff based out of the facility, so experience of working with or interacting with high volumes of people would be desirable.

 

In support of our global initiative in encouraging our employees back into the office more frequently, this role will see you based onsite between the core hours of 09:30 until 15:30 Monday to Thursday, with a 12:00 noon finish on a Friday; however you need to be flexible around these times as and when the business requires. Within these hours up to 20% of your time will be spent working towards completing your online studies in conjunction with our service provider.

Job Responsibilities

 

Sitting within our civil business lines, this apprenticeship will provide you with development and training across a wide range of business knowledge, skills and behaviours to include but not limited to:

 

  • Diary management, ensuring proactive planning and preparation for all appointments.
  • Organise and support meetings for H3 technology based staff. 
  • Comply with site visitor booking process and subsequent meet and greet
  • Support internal and external events for the H3 technology team, include securing appropriate venues, accommodation, catering, travel and facilitation of such events on the day as appropriate.  
  • Support the H3 technology team with all travel to include flight, rail and hotel bookings together with other logistical requirements such as hire car, parking and transfers. To ensure travel restrictions/requirements are fulfilled e.g. ESTA, Visa, Covid and host country regulations. Note – flexibility maybe required around occasional out of hours working and the ability to be contactable if key personnel are travelling and require assistance to secure routes homes due to unexpected travel disruption.
  • Co-ordinate arrangements for new starters/leavers within the H3 technology team – working with HR, IT, finance, security and site operations team for inductions and requisition of all necessary equipment to ensure smooth on boarding.  
  • To offer support to remote working team members, specifically providing travel and diary support to the leadership team based overseas.

 

You’ll get all the support and guidance you need to help you achieve your apprenticeship, joining a structured 24 month programme working closely with both GKN Aerospace and our service provider. 

 

Once you are enrolled, you will utilise a dynamic combination of learning online, in person and via a series of webinars and 121 workshops.

 

As part of your programme you will have access to an online learning programme and an E-portfolio to track your progression, capture evidence, build your professional portfolio and log your off-the-job learning. To support you with your learning you’ll be assigned a mentor who will work closely with you to ensure your learning and achievement of your apprenticeship qualification.

Job Qualifications

 

In order to be considered for this opportunity you will require the following:

 

  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths, English and at least 2 other subjects.

  • Previous experience in an administrative role; preferably within and Engineering/Technical organisation
