Job Summary

Based at our state of the art Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Bristol, we are seeking to recruit a Research Engineer to join our global technology team. The successful candidate will support a variety of technology activities, but with particular responsibility for conducting trade studies, cost estimation, and technology business cases. The role is pivotal to enable developments to be appropriately prioritised and to ensure targets are aligned with the business outcome. Drawing on a diverse engineering background the Research Engineer will help progress a variety of research activity in the TRL1-6 range. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducting trade studies and cost estimation
  • Responsible for, and contribute towards the preparation of Technology Business Case documents in the wider team.
  • Contribute to the development of assembly strategy through detailed assessment of the prospective value creation
  • Contribute to funding proposals as required
  • Ensure EHS policy and process adherence for all project activities, whilst maintaining proactive EHS culture in the wider team. 
  • Support project stakeholder management with internal/external customers, and lead management of supply chain partners in some cases
  • Budget accountability for Work Package

How You'll Contribute


  • Experience in conducting cost estimating activities
  • Ability to conduct line balancing or bottleneck analysis
  • Experience in capacity planning
  • A relevant, accredited engineering degree or experience in similar role



  • Chartered Engineer with a relevant institution
  • Experience using discrete event simulation (DES) tools
  • Well versed in lean manufacturing and waste reduction in manufacturing
  • Has a growing network in Aerospace or Technology areas relevant to the role 
  • Ability to identify and engage in the development of collaboration opportunities

A methodical approach to evaluate the potential of new concepts and ideas will be crucial for the successful candidate.
