The Opportunity

In this brand new role, you will be integral to the development of a supplier audit programme - syncronizing the risk evaluation and need of supplier audit cross sites. Taking responsibility for effective planning, you will lead (either singularly or as part of a team), and administer Supplier Audits (production process, system, product and special process) as assigned by the sites with the requested audit scope and against relevant Regulatory Requirements, Industry Standards, Customer and GKN Aerospace requirements.You will communicate the audit report to the related GKN certified system and follow up the audit findings with the supplier in close co-operation with the site/s, sustaining and developing the audit process using related tools/checklists as well as identifying training needs at the sites.

How You'll Contribute

In this role, you will:

  • Assist GKN sites, as needed, with supplier audit planning for the development of the audit objectives, the purpose and significance of the audit scope and criteria, utilising risk based assessment techniques, resourcing the audit, auditor and team competency and the selection of team members, particularly with regard to knowledge of the relevant requirements and product/process
  • Prepare and perform the supplier audit on request of the site in close corporation with affected site/-s including preparing the audit plan, conducting on-site audit activities (either singular or as a part of a team) at the supplier, preparing working documents, conducting audit meetings, gathering audit evidence, preparing and approving and distributing the audit report and conducting the audit follow up.
  • Evaluate the audit evidence, non-conformities recommendations / opportunities for improvements and for the communication of subsequent recommendations, including risk identification to the Site/-s Procurement Manager and Quality manager
  • Assisting in coordinating audits at suppliers shared by several sites across the BLs
  • Use  appropriate audit techniques, tools and structures aligned with industry standard and best practice
  • Identify and share across the business, best practices and support continuous improvement of the Supplier Audit management and its processes.
  • Support the development of audit skills and tools at the sites
  • Monitor, in collaboration with  Site Quality manager and Procurement,  the sites supplier audit programs and surveillance activities
  • Perform Supplier Release agent authorizations as needed

Job Qualifications

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

  • Aerospace Lead Auditor training with documented content and examination
  • Detailed understanding of the ISO 19011 standard and its applications. 
  • Demonstrable domain knowledge of Aviation Regulators (EASA, FAA etc) & contracted customer quality requirements.
  • Knowledge in the use of risk based methods and techniques (ISO 31000) for audit planning and management;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of AS/EN9100 / ISO 9001 and IAQG SLA Frameworks and experience of Quality Management Systems/Process Approach. 
  • Experience in AS9145 APQP/PPAP
  • Experience in the use of the IAQG OASIS database for the input to audit planning.
  • Appropriate ‘Executive disposition’ to represent GKN Aerospace in external organisations & forums.
  • Excellent communication skills
