Job Summary

The Project Manager will support our Civil business line whilst reporting to the Project Director and assuming responsibility for 1 direct report, the role can be based at our Blythe Valley HQ in Solihull or be remote based working from home as long as the incumbent is flexible for weekly travel to GKN UK sites and occasional international travel to China or the US. The Project Manager will be responsible for the execution of an Enterprise Project work package as assigned by the Project Director including managing/leading project teams, providing overall management, oversight and tracking ensuring completion according to the agreed baselines, providing detailed subproject planning, monitoring and control, logging and managing risks, issues and escalation, managing budgets, liaising with users or business communities, providing regular status reports, producing and delivering project communications and attending project status meetings.

Established in 2019, Blythe Valley hosts GKN Aerospace’s Global Functions which provide support to all of our employees, across a range of activities including; HR, IT, Finance, HSE, Corporate Governance, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Global Communications and Legal. We partner with the world’s major aircraft and Original Equipment manufacturers including; Airbus, Astronics, Aviation Partners Boeing, BAE Systems, Bell Helicopters, Boeing, Bombardier Aerospace, Cessna, Cobham, Dassault, General Automics, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Honeywell, Jaguar Land Rover, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, MOD, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Sikorsky, Saab, Textron, Triumph. Blythe Valley is home to 50+ employees and onsite/local facilities include Break out spaces, communal café, showers, Java Lounge coffee house, day care nursery, health club, cycle and motorcycle covered parking and vehicle electric charging stations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time within scope and within budget
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/customers/suppliers
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Delegate project tasks based on team members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Track project performance specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with customers as well as other staff members
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs

How You'll Contribute

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:


  • Significant Project Management experience where you have led a product or technology from concept through to delivery
  • Notable experience gained from the Aerospace or Automotive manufacturing industries
  • Experience of line management
  • Experience of internal and external stakeholder engagement with consideration for cultural nuances and international scope
  • Competency with MS Office tools including Word, Outlook and Excel


  • A relevant Engineering or Project Management Degree
  • Project Management Professional certification
  • Experience of aerospace  EASA Part 21-G regulatory approvals and TC holders
  • Experience of using MS Project
