Job Summary

Based out of our Blythe Valley Business Park HQ in Solihull, our new Financial Controller (IPT) will be the senior finance lead for the Integrated Programme team (IPT). They are a key business partner to the IPT lead and Key Customer FD. The Financial Controller and team provide financial insights that drive decisions, financial forecasts, and business plans. The role has primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial related activities for the program and its respective contracts. They drive financial performance through high quality decision support and FP&A, including overall P&L, sales and margin management, and close control over working capital
Activities include the restructuring of the business control model from a site controlled model towards a business line controlled model, monthly forecasting, long-term and short term budgeting, follow-up of work-in-progress and customer billing issues, prepare and follow-up internal and external audits and roll out of several improvement projects. 

While proposed location is Solihull, this person could be based out of any of our UK sites (Bristol, Portsmouth ,Cowes or Luton)

Job Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Ensuring a true and fair presentation of all assigned defence programme financial position, results and forecasts.
  • Delivering programme level results by building a successful network, driving its performance and leveraging best practice
  • Monitor/report financial performance by analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; analyze/minimize the impact of variances by developing improvements
  • Implementing and managing metrics and measurements to successfully manage, control and profitably grow the business
  • Analyzing financial processes of all assigned Defense programs throughout the group, identify gaps in intercompany transactions, non-compliance with accounting policies and/or potential financial risk areas;
  • Supports new business development activities as required
  • Analyze budget and forecasts and ensure reliability (budget, forecast and strategic planning); identify risks and opportunities to budget/forecast
  • Coordinate closure actions on aged debtors
  • Identifying  and evaluating bottlenecks in financial processes, techniques and systems
  • Developing and implementing the use of standard follow-up systems supported by the respective accounting systems in use
  • Make sure internal controls are in place and adhered to;
  • Prepare accurate entries/reports/schedules needed to complete a timely financial close  in accordance with IFRS
  • Adherence to IFRS standards and GKN corporate accounting policies.

Job Qualifications

  •      Ability to work well in a fast-paced and collaborative team that is responsive and results-oriented.
  •      Demonstrated track record of success as a senior finance professional
  •      Excels in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, pricing, business analytics and reporting;
  •      Proven track record of eam building or people development;
  •      Strong analytical skills;
  •      Forward-thinking and takes a global view regarding the business;
  •      Connects and builds strong relationships with others, demonstrates emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly, collaboratively and persuasively;
  •      Recognised accounting qualification plus 5+ years PQE
  •      Clear understanding of relevant technical accounting framework
  •      Good understanding of the Aerospace industry (preferable)
