The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to really make a difference to the way we do things. Located either in North America (Dallas) or at one of our UK sites (Bristol, Solihull, Portsmouth, Cowes or Luton), you will provide assurance over the judgments and key risks in GKN Aerospace site balance sheets and ensure compliance in the operation of key transactional controls at site level. In this globally-mobile role you will have responsibility for a team  of between 2 and 4 finance managers and will work closely with site and business line finance teams, together with divisional finance, global functions and our parent group (Melrose Group) as necessary.

How You'll Contribute

As a key part of our Global Finance Team, you will:

Carry out site visits & Balance Sheet reviews, encompassing:

  • the definition of the balance sheet review program, the maintenance of testing schedules and scoping of sites to be visited within each half year.
  • communication with site teams to close compliance gaps and ensure robust / proportionate controls are put in place.  
  • providing support to site teams in resolution of actions; escalating through leadership structure where there are barriers to implementation.  

Make Balance sheet judgments and analyse key risks, through:

  • directing the financial compliance team to identify or follow up on specific areas of balance sheet judgment and risk per sites in scope of their responsibility.
  • ensuring that deviation from key financial policies is documented and that there is a clear audit trail for rationale and approval of the same.  You will ensure that judgments / risks are apprised and reported through certification processes.

Maintain key transactional controls, including:

  • maintenance of the divisional financial compliance framework (FACTS), including the design of the benchmark operating controls and certification processes.  
  • developing and maintaining relationships with site, business line and divisional finance teams to ensure a robust and prudent financial control environment, with particular focus on the transparent sharing and resolution of issues, and compliance with the Division’s minimum required financial controls.
  • maintaining the divisional segregations of duties rulebook, deployment in EZ Compliance software and resolution of user access / role conflicts.  
  • in response to identified deficiencies, leading / carrying out specific reviews of the operation of key transactional controls and provide thought leadership on improvements.
  • supporting sites in continuous improvement activity around key transactional controls.

•    Risk management qualification or certificate (desirable)  
•    Experience of one or more of the following – OneStream, SAP, BAAN/LN, TM1, SharePoint
•    Experience in Internal Audit / financial controls compliance, “Sarbanes Oxley” controls
•    Experience in assessment and management of segregation of duties risks
•    Statutory Accounts experience

Language Skills 
Fluent English
Proficiency in an additional European language (Dutch, Swedish, German) or Mandarin would be beneficial but is not essential given the extent of the role
