Job Summary

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Director – Operations will be based in the UK at one of our principal sites which are Solihull (Blythe Valley), London (Dover Street) or Bristol (GTC), the incumbent will need to be flexible for monthly UK travel and quarterly EU travel for site visits and there is flexibility for 2 days working from home per week dependent on the needs of the business. The FP&A Director – Operations will report to the VP of FP&A whilst assuming responsibility for 1 direct report and for insights on the operational performance of the group.  Working with the finance leads and business leaders across all 3 business lines (Civil, Defence and Engines), the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Director – Operations will ensure the provision of high quality reporting processes and systems supporting the strategic plan, budget, forecast and monthly actuals.  Whist the Business Lines are accountable for their operational performance, this role is instrumental in driving standardisation, monitoring performance against standards and reporting on the group’s operational performance to senior management. The role will partner with the procurement organisation and support the business line operations where performance is sub-par from a finance perspective.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of GKN Aerospace’s Finance Management Operating System (“MOS”)
  • Ensure the MOS is accurately and efficiently tracking key metrics deemed by management
  • Ensure templates and timetables are standardised
  • Contribute to the standardisation of processes and systems
  • Build expert knowledge of key business metrics such as arrears, cost of poor quality, productivity (costs and absorption), inventory management and capital expenditure
  • Champion cost of poor quality, arrears and escapes from a finance perspective
  • Test and challenge forecasts, budgets and strategic plans providing insights to the leadership team 
  • Understand consolidated inventory performance providing insights on performance, trends and benchmarks
  • Support weekly business line inventory reviews and forecast processes with data, insights and meeting participation
  • Proactively highlight trends in operations, reviewing and monitoring against action plans
  • Participate in Lean Excellence team meetings challenging Lean Excellence financial returns
  • Manage capital expenditure outcome reviews across business lines
  • Work with the BL Capital Manager to ensure alignment and consistency.  Lead the fortnightly meetings
  • Support Procurement and AEC on the Procurement value drivers as global procurement finance lead   
  • Provide finance support on ad hoc Strategic projects

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant - ACA, CIMA, ACCA 
  • Significant Finance experience gained from an industrial FP&A or manufacturing operations finance role
  • Experience of implementing efficient processes and deploying change for improvements
  • Experience of leading finance professionals in the delivery of projects
  • Experience of presenting complex financial information to senior management 
  • Experience of working at a strategic level
  • Strong competency with enterprise performance software (Hyperion/ OneStream) 


Desirable:

  • Experience gained from a global multi-site business 
  • Experience gained from the manufacturing industry
