Job Summary

We are looking for an engaging, inspiring individual to help shape and drive the GKN Aerospace DIB Strategy. You will advance our Diversity and Inclusion agenda with innovative and creative ideas whilst partnering across the organisation to help enable our journey to be an even more inclusive work environment and actively promote/build/increase diversity within our teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Co-creation of the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging strategy partnering with key stakeholders working alongside the DIB Steerco and  VP HR Talent & Engagement to help drive our ambition of becoming a Great Place to work
  • Use your experience and knowledge to propose innovative initiatives to support the ongoing embedding of our Culture Principles and our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Policy
  • Drive organisational change, using your D&I expertise to enable organisational change through the creation of policies and processes to drive diversity of people and thinking across the organisation
  • Lead the GKN Employees resource groups programme, encouraging the creation of new ERG’s, supporting the ERG leads in achieving their strategic objectives, raising awareness and driving change initiatives to support our under represented and challenged communities within our GKN Aerospace workforce 
  • Work collaboratively with cross functional partners and stakeholders to raise awareness of DIB matters and provide advice and guidance on ways for them to improve their teams/functions diversity of people and diversity of thinking
  • Collaborate with all teams across Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Performance and Rewards, Learning & Development, Employee Relations & Policy, Engagement and Wellbeing to ensure DIB is embedded into all our policies, systems, processes and programmes
  • Work with the VP SWP & Talent Acquisition to enable recruitment strategies that support our objective for a more diverse workforce globally
  • Collect best practice from across the organisation and work with our Communications function to share globally and celebrate actions taken to improve our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging
  • Work with Business leaders and stakeholders across the organisation to think differently on topics including cultural diversity, ethnicity, leading progressive dialogues on LGBTQ+, disability, mental health, etc. to accelerate our diversity and inclusion journey. 
  • Where possible network with and work alongside external partners to seek advice and guidance on our own DIB ideas and strategy, to provide thought leadership and collaboration 
  • Create and produce the annual World Days Calendar and provide subsequent project management to deliver resources for each identified event on the calendar, working with other stakeholders where it is appropriate to do so
  • Work with the ERG’s to help co-ordinate the production of resources and activities for the core World Days that relate to their individual ERG’s
  • Lead the Mental Health & Wellbeing committee to further embed our Safe Culture Principle, working through regional working parties to identify initiatives, share best practice and drive any global activities 
  • Continue to focus on your personal learning and growth in this space to enable world class thought leadership and innovation on our ongoing DIB journey
  • To support the wider Talent, Engagement and Culture Centre of Excellence in the creation of policies and processes that will enable us to be a Great Place to Work

Job Qualifications

Essential:

  • Subject matter experience specifically in designing Diversity and Inclusion initiatives with a global audience and implementing these effectively
  •  Able to bring the latest thinking in the Diversity and Inclusion agenda.
  •  An understanding and appreciation of cultural nuances that should be considered when engaging in global work or activities
  •  Experience in working with leaders to educate and raise awareness of the DIB agenda and providing thought provoking leadership and guidance 
  •  Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders internally and externally to ensure the best possible DIB outcomes 
  •  Experience of setting up and or co-ordination of Employee Resource Groups/affinity groups
  •  Credible and engaging, able to form strong relationships with leaders, senior managers and experts across the organisation.
  •  Able to network internally and externally with strong change management, stakeholder management and collaboration skills
  •  Adaptable and resilient as the role operates in a changing environment with a high work volume.

Desirable:

  •  Previous experience of Mental Health and well being programmes
  •  Experience in the area of Learning and Development
  •  Knowledge of and or experience of talent management programmes
  •  Exposure to or understanding of employee engagement measurement and subsequent
  •  Language capability in any of our core languages
