Job Summary

The Key Customer Commercial Finance Director is the senior financial and commercial executive for the customer account. They are a strategic business partner to the SVP Customer and SVP Finance Business Line. They set direction, financial and commercial strategy, provide projections, and prepare growth plans for the organization. 
In addition to ensuring business compliance with statutory and GKN Aerospace governance the role is also expected to provide commercial and financial leadership for the customer-centred business across multiple locations and IPTs.
 

Job Responsibilities

Commercial:

  • Ensure that Commercial Governance, policies and procedures, are embedded and adhered to within the Customer business area.
  • Ensure customer debt is properly managed and customer overdue debt minimized and maximise cash opportunities.
  • Create and support contract management framework and ensure contractual change management controls are in place and ensure that all contracts and contract amendments are uploaded to the Aerospace central contracts database.
  • Responsible for initiating and managing the processes that govern order receipt and acceptance and management thereafter.
  • Establish a bids for new and follow-on business. 
  • Act as leader, expert and internal escalation point for negotiation and resolution of commercial claims to/from customers. 
  • Ensure that compliancy and contracting risk (technical, financial, contractual) is properly understood and managed in the negotiation of terms and conditions for new business and ensure that all contracting obligations are fully understood.
  • Accountable for the deployed resources that manage the commercial bids, proposals and contract Gate reviews such that risks are understood, minimized and managed appropriately.
  • Collect data and provide payment milestone overview and adherence to cash-in.
  • Support the claim process for customer claims and Material Litigation reporting and provide guidance on claim settlement and claim negotiation strategy.
  • Provide key management information and analysis to make informed business decisions and to help drive business performance improvement, particularly cost competitiveness and cash generation.

Financial:

  • Ensure that Financial Governance, policies and procedures, are embedded and adhered to within the Customer business area.
  • Provide direction and oversee the strategic planning and annual budget processes for the Business, including R10 revenue forecast and establishment of SVP Customer Business budgets and actively contribute to the development of the business unit strategic plan.
  • Accountable for the collation of data from all programmes to provide overview of profitability for the complete Business (trend previous years, escalation effects, affordability targets, hedging).
  • Provide key management information and analysis to make informed business decisions and to help drive business performance improvement, particularly cost competitiveness and cash generation.
  • Ensure business unit analysis of program results on a monthly basis. Ensure program balance sheet is accurate.
  • Lead finance input on new ventures. Lead Finance input on key commercial decisions – pricing, sourcing and capital expenditure.
  • Leads the team of Financial Controllers in the IPTs, providing input to their professional development and to the Finance OPP.

Generic:

  • Ensure reviews of business case (Business Models) capture and address commercial and financial requirements of the business.
  • Lead, motivate develop and serve the commercial function within the Customer business area. Responsible for the commercial team’s functional skills and professional development.
  • To be the acknowledged expert on commercial contracting and program accounting within the program. Oversee revenue recognition for the business.
  • Ensure that the Commercial and Finance personnel with thin the Business Line have a good understanding and comply with Export Control requirement.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7+ years of finance and commercial experience in a multi-site manufacturing setting, including leadership experience required.
  • Ability to travel 50-75% both within the US and internationally required.
  • Must be a US Citizen due to program security clearance requirements and/or SSA requirements.
