Job Summary
The Portfolio Manager will lead all forecasting, reporting and strategic budget planning activities across the portfolio, working with various finance teams, project managers, Technical directors to maintain a clear and controlled summary of financial year performance and strategic plan in the 5 and 10 year horizons.
Collate and summarize intelligence on competition and partner activities in technology and research and present to VP technology on a monthly basis.
Job Responsibilities
Maintain year to date and year end financial reporting across financial units.
Track portfolio level risks & opportunities, taking proactive mitigation actions to maintain control.
Produce succinct but informative Business Review performance summaries for reporting to VP/SVP and Business Line President level.
Participate in regular Business Alignment activities with SVP customer teams. Taking decisive action with Horizon 1 & 2 Directors in response to steering ref continued relevance of portfolio and any identified gaps.
Set challenging, realistic and measurable portfolio KPIs & Highlights and measure through year.
Maintain a strategic portfolio plan including both phasing of live and pipeline projects Vs anticipated R&D budget to avoid over-commitment and to support decision making at Gate Reviews.
Lead budget process across the portolio, working with resource managers and finance departments to coordinate submission.
Work with Horizon 1 , 2 and 3 portfolio owners to carry out project prioritisation in support of budgets.
Develop and maintain a robust technology project management process, which clearly defines the method of taking technologies from lower TRL levels to certification and deployment.
Build relationships with key stakeholders covering all near-term technology requirements delivering visibility of cost-down, business protect, and near-term bid-maps.
Engaging cross functional teams to understand the near-term business needs of GKN (Business development, Product group managers, Chief engineering, and Operations teams).
Business and technology intelligence
Develop and maintain a method of communicating technology understanding including business value and risk.
Collate and develop an annual list of technology proposals across the manufacturing sites which clearly route the technology introduction and provide a clear value and risk case, which is underwritten by key stakeholders
Work with funding org to Secure matched government funding.

Job Qualifications
Degree of higher qualification in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Manufacturing & Automation Engineering.
Strong technical understanding across a broad range of Technology strands
Understanding of business key products and areas where technology can offer operational improvements
Able to assist sites, oversee and critique business cases for technology projects proposed
Strong project management skills to monitor that all projects remain on track
Able to work with teams to unblock issues impeding progress
Able to work closely with the other GKN Aerospace R&T Technology –
Able to work with a minimum remit to build a new way of working.
Able to work across a wide range of levels.
Good interpersonal team working skills.
Innovative toward all aspects of the job.
Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment.
Good reporting skills on project status and progress.
Flexibility towards hours of work when (occasional) tight deadlines emerge.
Willingness to travel (UK and Europe).
Self-motivated and resourceful.
Capable of interfacing professionally with all customers.
