Job Summary

The primary job responsibility is to work on Aero Engine components and to take complete ownership of his or her work on various tasks involved in various phases of product development & support. Candidate shall support independently Aero design and CFD analysis of aero engine components with strong understanding of Aerodynamics. Execution will range from using established design practices/work instructions or to develop new methods and processes Candidate should be able to drive and lead product improvements activities, method development and continuous improvement activities through various internal forums of GKN. He or She should coach/mentor Junior engineers

Job Responsibilities

Individual contributor working to deliver Aero/CFD tasks  
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency 
Develop, implement, and check technical solutions and compliance documentation to ensure 
they are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, 
within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraints. 
Identify technical problems and apply/integrate solutions. 
Identify improvements and support the creation of work instructions, procedures, technical 
manuals, and guidelines.  
Execute and implement methods plans, toolsets and approaches that are appropriate and 
compliant to achieve the design and programme objectives. 
Identify and assess technical risk for own work and propose mitigations within assigned 
programmes/projects. 
Generate assigned project deliverables, documents, and reports according to the project 
signature authorizations.  
Support technical and customer reviews, including formal gate reviews, including the 
creation and preparation of technical data and presentations of product design.  
Perform all activities at a level of minimal supervision and support other engineers with peer
to-peer reviews. He or She will make sure OTD & FTR – adhere to quality and on time 
delivery always above the set target for his/her team. 

Job Qualifications

Essential: 
Qualifications 
• Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerodynamics, Aerospace) or equivalent. 
• 12+ years of hands‑on experience in Aero/CFD analysis and design of aero engine 
components, with a strong understanding of the aero engine Product Development 
process. 
• Demonstrated critical thinking ability and decision-making skills 
Technical Expertise 
• Excellent fundamentals in Aerodynamics and CFD; additional knowledge of Thermal and 
Structural Mechanics is an added advantage. 
• Hands‑on experience in aero engine aerodynamic analysis with CFD tools 
(Fluent/ANSYS/ICEM CFD), covering fluid flow and heat transfer 
• Knowledge of thermal boundary creation and modelling. 
• Knowledge of scripting languages (MATLAB, Python, Shell, awk, etc.). 
• Experience in handling aero related production non-conformances 
• Experience in whole engine aerodynamic modelling, including system-level CFD simulations 
and performance analysis. Strong understanding of flow path interactions, operability 
margins, and aero-thermal coupling.  
• Familiarity with engine performance modelling tools and validation against rig/flight test 
data.  
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines to ensure aerodynamic integrity at the whole 
engine level. 
• Understanding and demonstrated knowledge on system thinking approach in design and 
development activities  
Desirable: 
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
• Self-driven individual who can expand his/her skills with on-job training 
• Customization and Programming skills, Python/ MATLAB 
• Knowledge of 1D codes to study flow networks 
• Aero/structures meshing experience using ICEM CFD/ANSYS/SIMCENTER/HYPERMESH 
• Good product knowledge related to aero engines, especially structural casings. 
• Demonstrated contribution to the technical development of processes, methods, products, 
or people. 
• Good communication skills in English both oral and written.  
• Strong technical report writing skills. 
• Active contribution to Department/Organization KPIs and TIP initiatives. 
• Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced and deadline driven environment 
• LEAN culture and mind-set
