Job Summary
The primary job responsibility is to work on EWIS component design and to take complete
ownership of his or her work on various tasks involved in the project. Candidate shall support
independently or with minimal supervision on Aerospace Electrical system schematic and Wiring
diagrams. She (or) he should have hands-on experience in Electrical Functional Design (EFD),
Electrical Installations Design (EID), Electrical System Schematic Drawings (ESSD) and Electrical
Components Engineering. The execution will be in accordance with established design practices
and work instructions.
Candidate has to take complete responsibility for his (or) her tasks, and should provide regular
updates to the respective team leader as well as the programs teams.
He or she shall drive and lead product improvements activities, method development and
continuous improvement activities through various internal forums of GKN.
Job Responsibilities
Individual contributor working and delivering electrical wiring design tasks in line with
functional KPI of the organization.
Supporting the design process to ensure required quality is achieved within direct area of
responsibility
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency
Develop, implement, and check technical solutions and compliance documentation to ensure
they are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements,
within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.
Identify technical problems and apply/integrate solutions.
Execute and implement methods plans, toolsets and approaches that are appropriate and
compliant to achieve the design and programme objectives.
Identify and assess technical risk for own work and propose mitigations within assigned
programmes/projects.
Generate assigned project deliverables, documents, and reports according to the project
signature authorizations.
Support technical and customer reviews, including formal gate reviews, including the
creation and preparation of technical data and presentations of product design.
Process documentation such as concessions and non-conformances, and provide technical
support by implementing solutions to address non-conforming products, designs, and
compliance documentation.
Perform all activities at a level of minimal supervision and support other engineers with peer
to-peer reviews.
Identify improvements and support the creation of work instructions, procedures, technical
manuals, and guidelines.
Job Qualifications
General:
Must possess an appropriate level of engineering functional knowledge (typically
Technical and in the appropriate Area of Expertise) with experience or knowledge of
working/interfacing with other Engineering & Manufacturing Eng. (ME) disciplines
(including customers and suppliers) in order to successfully execute the functional project
team(s) objectives.
Must have an awareness of the Aerospace industry and in the functional area the
project/programme is responsible for (e.g. Design, Analysis, ME, Testing etc.) in order to
successfully support the whole of the IPT in achieving the overall business objectives.
Must possess a good level of technical problem solving skills.
Essential:
Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in EEE, ECE, Electronics & Instrumentation,
Telecommunication or equivalent
Good communication skills in English both oral and written
Must have 5-10 years’ experience in Aerospace Electrical system schematic and Wiring
diagrams
Knowledge and Hands on experience in Wiring diagrams, Block diagrams, Schematic
diagrams, Stick diagrams, Topology drawing (Main routing architecture), Wire harness 3D
routing and Harness Manufacturing Engineering drawings including BOM for HV/LV/RF
Harnesses
Knowledge and Hands on experience in tools like Autocad, Electre, MS Office, Siemens
Capital, Beyond Compare, Electrical Wiring modules in 3D Catia/UG-NX
Knowledge on Electrical Power Characteristics, Power generation and distribution.
Thorough knowledge on standards SAE50881, MIL-STD-5088L, MIL-STD-704F, EMI/EMC
Standards, MIL-W/C-27500 for Wires/Cables
Knowledge on Electrical component selection (like connectors, back shells, wires, cables,
switches, relays, modules, loose parts etc) for System Schematic/Wiring/Harness)
Library and Symbol creation and update for Electrical components, database creation for
System wise Wiring information- Wiring Tables, Construction standards, Finish Codes,
product defintions (BOM)
Updating CAD models in CATIA pertaining to Electrical System Schematic Drawings
(ESSDs) and Wire Harness (WH) definitions – clerical (changing part numbers) as well as
design updates
Ability to interpret results, understand modes of failures and propose optimisation ideas
Good product knowledge related to Aerostructure standard electrical components and
assemblies
Documentation support on Change Control Board (CCBs)
Customization and Programming skills, preferably using Excel VBA/Python/Power Query
and Power Pivot
Good technical report writing skills
REACH compliance – Knowledge and skills on EU REACH (Registration, Evaluation,
Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) regulation). Has experience working withcross-functional teams like engineering, procurement, legal, and product development
teams to manage chemical compliance and mitigate regulatory risks. Maintain and update
REACH registration dossiers and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Coordinate with GKN suppliers
to gather and verify chemical composition data. Conduct risk assessments and exposure
scenarios for substances of very high concern (SVHC). Monitor regulatory updates and
assess their impact on company operations. Support product development teams with
material selection and compliance documentation. Assist in audits and inspections related
to chemical compliance.
