The Role:

Our Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship is offered to apprentices targeted with becoming skilled engineers within a Manufacturing business.  It will develop successful candidates in our niche product range and is key to the continued success and growth of our business. Over the life of the programme our apprentices will pass through each of the manufacturing processes giving you the opportunity to work within a growing engineering business, allowing you to experience the working environment whilst continuing your studies. Further education & development is available on completion of apprenticeship.

You will learn to read, understand and interpret technical drawings, implement work instructions, and deliver quality product.

What will I be doing

  • Contributing to practical problem solving activities using lean tools, particularly in relation to scrap and rework cost reduction.
  • Contributing to process improvement activities, with a vision of creating world class, 6-sigma manufacturing processes through elimination of waste and process variation.
  • Material Review Board support for the disposition of non-conformant composite products with an encapsulated heater element formed of a sprayed metallic coating.
  • Maintaining engineering compliance through management of process specification, change requests and internal production permits.
  • Ensure they are fully conversant and compliant with the Company’s Health and Safety policies.
  • Any other reasonable duties

Entry Requirements

  • Candidates must be at least 16 years old to apply
  • Candidates will have already achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or equivalent, including Mathematics, English and a Science.
  • Candidates will be able to demonstrate a drive to achieve and a desire and commitment for learning. They will be well presented, enthusiastic with a flexible and friendly approach.
  • Able to commute to a place of study (North Herts College, Stevenage)
  • Applicants must be able to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation and be flexible in approach.
