Advanced Operations (Craft) Apprentice

An exciting opportunity for Advanced Operations (Craft) Apprentices has become available at our world-class aerospace manufacturing facility in East Cowes, on the Isle of Wight.

Our 4 year programme provides development and training across a wide range of manufacturing processes within our production areas.

Our Advanced Operations (Craft) Apprentices are likely to move into the following career discipline;

  • Fitter – Skilled aircraft fitters put together the components and sub-assemblies that go into the aircraft at our customers’ final assembly lines. Aircraft Fitters work to engineering instructions and drawings and will use skills including:
    • Drilling, reaming and countersinking
    • Installing a range of different fasteners
    • Applying sealants
    • Functional testing of mechanical systems

Program Summary:

Year 1: The majority of your first year will be working off site at college. During this year you will be working towards and completing your Level 2 Foundation Competence Qualification.

Years 2 & 3: You will work on site, rotating around a number of different departments under supervision and guidance whilst undertaking a variety of tasks. During these years you will commence and complete your Level 3 Technical Knowledge Qualification as well as commencing and working towards the completion of your Level 3 Competence Qualification.

Year 4: You will move towards working independently in your final placement area whilst completing your Level 3 Competence Qualification, and undertaking your End Point Assessment (EPA).

Apprentice Key Responsibilities

  • To observe the company’s terms and conditions of employment.
  • In both work and training, to be diligent and punctual and attend courses, keep records and undertake any tests determined by the company in order to measure & achieve the training objectives and quality gates.
  • To behave in a responsible manner and in accordance with the requirements of Health & Safety legislation relating to the individual’s responsibilities.
  • To be a good ambassador of the Company’s name and image.
  • To successfully complete all activities documented in the Apprenticeship Training Agreement.

Qualifications

You must have at least Four GCSE’s, or equivalent:

  • Maths: Grade 9 – 4
  • English: Grade 9 – 4
  • Science: Grade 9 – 4
  • Plus one more Grade: 9 – 4

If you live outside the EU you will need a UK work permit before you can start an apprenticeship.
